His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik
Assasin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb
Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson
Blood Engines by T.A. Pratt
Not too shabby.
I already downloaded all four, even though my retinal issues and easily-strained middle-aged eyes make reading difficult these days, so that in the last year plus I've stuck mainly to graphic novels/manga with their limited text, quite short stories, and poetry. Sigh.
Oh, and for those who like their fantasy really dark and violent and can get through a book with a totally unsympathetic heroine, they're offering Empress by Karen Miller for a buck.
